Character Parade is Coming!

This year, PGE will host a school-wide Storybook Character Parade on Friday, October 26th, at 8:30am.  Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite story book characters.  Each class will walk in the parade, and parents are welcome to attend.  Students may choose any character from a book they enjoy, following the guidelines in this letter.  To support students’ feelings of safety and security in our building, violent or frightening costumes are not acceptable.  No weapons or dangerous-looking items will be permitted to accompany a costume.  Here are some examples of acceptable costume choices, and some examples of unacceptable choices.

Acceptable Examples Unacceptable Examples

 Fancy Nancy Characters from Goosebumps

Cinderella, Snow White, etc. Vampires

Greg Heffley (the Wimpy Kid) Grim Reaper

Ramona Characters with guns or weapons

The parade will take place on the hardtop on the playground.  Parents are welcome to stand around the hard top to take pictures – you will not need to sign in through the front desk for this event, unless you plan to sign your child out from school after the parade.  PM PreK/PPCD students will have a smaller parade in the afternoon.  Please talk with your child about how he or she would like to participate in this event, and mark your calendars!  See your child’s teacher for further information.

Community Partners – Serving Our Community

Community Partners – Serving our Community

Gaining a Servant’s Heart

by Robin McGuire

Community Service is the work that is done without pay to help others.  Our goal this year is to teach and grow our children by providing opportunities for them to be hands on and involved in the process of serving our community.  In addition, by volunteering, we hope to teach teamwork, leadership, communication, timeliness, and grace.   Last, we want them to have a servant’s heart that they can go to middle school, high school, and continue to be a community service leader.  Throughout this year, we have several events scheduled that will involve our children at each grade level.    All children and parents will be able to sign up and be a part of our mission.

Our first program begins next month with the Cups for Charity Program.  We hope that you and your Cougar Cubs will participate in supporting Fort Bend Family Promise.   Need more info? Want to get involved? Contact Robin McGuire at

Cougar Cub Patrol Plans First Event

Attention Male Role Models!

Summer has blasted by as it usually does and we are fast approaching day 1 of yet another school year.  With the transition to a PTO, we are dropping the branded Watch D.O.G.S. program and setting up our very own Cougar Cub Patrol.  Although we will align ourselves closely with the core values of the WD program, we can’t maintain our fiscal stewardship in the PTO and continue to pay for the associated costs of the WD brand.  Our main goal with the Cougar Cub Patrol will be to ensure our children have active positive role models at home and at school and promote a sense of safety and security as a result of that active participation.
3.  Although we had some great participation last year, we have a ton of room for improvement and in order for that to happen, I am going to need some help from some of the other Dad’s to help organize and operate the new program, so if you are interested in helping me out, please let me know and I will fill you in on the areas we need the most help.
4.  For our first event, we are looking at having as many Dads as we can “High Five” and help out the kiddos during the Car rider line on on Friday, August 17.  If you are interested, please let me know along with your shirt size and I will sign you up and work with the PTO to get you a specially designed Cougar Cub Patrol T-Shirt.  More details to follow.  Reminder:  You must have completed your volunteer paperwork to participate.
5.  On top of that, I am planning on trying to host a social event at one of our local restaurants or “watering holes” in the near future.  Let me know if any of you have any good hook-ups with any of our awesome local establishments and we will see what we can do to set something up.  I can think of a few good places to go, but I want to solicit some ideas from the masses.
Finally…  I want this to be another awesome year for the kiddos and can’t wait to see what we can do to help make that happen.  I know the Boss Lady (Principal Riha), has charged the teachers and staff at PGE to do some great work this year and our PTO ladies are already killing it.  We need to do what we can just to keep up!  Please hit me up with your questions.  I look forward to working with you all!
Very Respectfully

Teacher Announcements Coming Soon

We all know how excited you are to find out who your child’s teacher is – we are too! Here is some helpful information regarding this new process.  It’s the school’s first year to use Skyward for teacher announcements, so please bear with them.  Any questions can be directed to the school’s office – unfortunately the PTO has no insight into Skyward.

In order to find out teacher assignments, you MUST complete the following:

  1. Starting August 1st, log into Skyward Family Access and update your student’s information on-line- See instructions here: Skylert Flyer 2018-19-072618-bw.pdf
  2. If you are not able to log in, please email Ms. Aymami at and she will send you a link to reset your password.
  3. ONLY if you have completed this verification, you will be able to log in to Family Access and view your child’s teacher on AUGUST 9th starting at 9:00am until AUGUST 12th 10:00pm.

TEACHER NAMES WILL NOT BE VISIBLE TO PARENTS WHO HAVE NOT COMPLETED THIS PROCESS. Teacher names will not be given over the phone/via email/at the front desk to parents who have not completed this process.

If you need computer access to complete this process in order to view your child’s teacher information, please call the school at 281-634-4800 and we will set an appointment with you to use the computer in the front lobby before August 13th.

PARENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCESS MAY ATTEND THE WELCOME WALK ON AUGUST 13TH 5:30-6:30PM to drop off school supplies and meet the teachers!

**Please note that teacher assignments are subject to change due to class sizes or staffing changes.**

**Also, parent requests to change teacher assignments will not be considered until the week of September 3rd through a scheduled parent/teacher/administrator conference.**

We know you’ve been asking, and now, everything that we know, you do too!!
If you have questions, feel free to message and reach out to us! Just because things have been a certain way in the past, doesn’t guarantee their details are the same this year! So check here first before scheduling your plans! #pgepto #kodascubs
